Fear of starting new topics?

For what it's worth, I've noticed something peculiar about our web forum here. It seems that quite a few folks don't start a new topic when they can't find an existing topic that is relevant. They'll just pick some topic at random and tack on a completely different and unrelated issue at the bottom.

I never see this behavior at other special interest forums I participate in. I'm not a member of any other amateur radio forums like qrz, eham, etc. Does it happen there as well? Are hams more inclined to not be forum-savvy? You wouldn't think so as they are supposed to be technically proficient. Or is it possibly related to the typically older age demographic among hams, such that our older folks are not as familiar with other methods of information sharing beyond the old-style "mailing list"?

Not singling anyone out, there are more than a few who do this. It's just morbid curiosity :D
