Hi Mark,
<Sigh> Yeah, the forum is a bit messed up right now
As you and everyone else have undoubtedly noticed, the forum went down hard some three times over the last month or so. I've been working diligently with Apache's IT person and hosting provider to improve the situation, but it ...

In another thread I posted results from flashing of many FW versions (see "Final" table below). Will need to dig deeper to determine which FPGA the Orion MKIII board has on it.
Not at all. You have a 5CEFA9F31 Cyclone V series FPGA in your 7000.

AFAIK the Radxa CM5 is the best you can do for a CM4 form-fit, pin-compatible replacement.
https://community.apache-labs.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=5162
The Pi CM5 is 2+ times better than the CM4, the Radxa a bit better than that.

The cable will go between a serial "COM" port on the PC running Spark SDR and the SPE amplifier. That COM port can be a USB-to-serial adapter.

Thetis has no idea.
One of the failings for the hardware design is no provision for machine-readable board revision data. Adding that feature would have made firmware and software updates SO much easier!

Re: setup refusing to open window
That's pretty complicated. Why not run everything on the radio PC and simply add the second screen permanently to that PC? HRD does not require very much CPU at all, it should not affect Thetis in any way. You can easily try it to prove that's the case.

Just to clarify, there is both a CM4 thermal sensor (a standard Raspberry Pi feature), and a thermal sensor on the PA board. What the firm/middle/software does with that data is unknown.

Yes, two-tone.
The standard tone values of 700 and 1900 Hz are quite distinctive. You've probably heard them on the air many times.

Co-channel means "same channel". Another term of art is "adjacent channel".
Of course amateur radio is not channelized in the HF band. However, from the perspective of how our radios work, each ADC represents a single, very wideband, channel.

I looked at the YT video. That's an oldie but goodie. Gerald is 100% correct. Indeed, I normally run my preselector (bandpass filters) in bypass 100% of the time because I often like to look at two different bands.

Classic co-channel interference. There's not a lot to be done about it. Cranking some step attenuator in on receive will help a little, but at the expense of weaker signal reception.

Not seeing anything wrong. I recommend that the MAP option be unchecked unless it is absolutely necessary for the amp behavior.
It would be safer to use the VK Amps coupler. Any time an adjustable coupler is used there is a danger that damaging levels might be accidentally achieved.

You may indeed be expecting too much. Only interfering signals can be suppressed, not random atmospheric noise. And it will only work to suppress interfering signals if you are "lucky" in your arrangement of antennas. Did you read this post in the tacked topic at the top of this sub-forum?
