Yup, gonna do that next. I was even thinking I might swap a few of the internal jumper cables' respective positions (if cable length allows), that way if any cable is bad then something else in the rig's operation would likely also change (besides PS). ;)

When I bought my 7000dle new in 2017 it had a similar issue right out of the box. I sent it to Doug and he found a relay that did not have all its pins soldered. He fixed it and its been working great ever since.

So I finally got a block of free time this weekend and pulled the rig apart, swapped a couple of cables (probably not related to PS), checked all connections for tight and buttoned everything back together and fired it up.

No difference in PS behavior on 20 meters.

Even tried a brand new i9-13980HX laptop, same behavior.

Unless anyone has any other ideas, I'm almost forced to concede it's probably a hardware problem in the radio.

I've contacted Doug, he said to send the radio to him, he's very interested in seeing what's going on.

Thanks for everyone's help,

Update: Doug found a bad PA final in my radio, he replaced both finals and PS is working fine now on all bands.

Here's PS on 20 meters at 41 watts, internal sampler (curves are very similar at any power):

as the difference between 20 m and the other bands is rather extreme, have you considered checking the filters that are in the transmit path? As a dummy load is used that would not discriminate between bands, nor does the firmware. But a faulty filter could, or a filter switch not happening and the wrong one being active.

I've been following your journey with this in the thread Mark and very glad that Doug was able to isolate the bad PA device as the issue. That's not a common point of failure with these rigs so you got bit by a rare one! We are very lucky to have Doug as our backstop for these issues when they come up.
