Just to be sure it’s clear, for TX you can certainly set your high and low pass in AM mode. Don’t confuse the RX band pass filters with your TX filters. Your TX width is determined by your TX profile settings.AG5CK wrote:
That makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
I can't count the number of times I adjusted the filter when band conditions were poor and never realized it didn't do anything. Fortunately my audio chain has a quick and easy low cut adjustment.

I'm not confused. The low cut filter in the TX profile tab does nothing for AM. You can change the setting but it doesn't do anything. The high frequency cutoff alone will determine the total AM bandwidth.kc2rgw wrote:Just to be sure it’s clear, for TX you can certainly set your high and low pass in AM mode. Try changing the low filter in the TX profile using AM and see what happens when you inject a tone that's lower in frequency than your setpoint. You can find test tone on YouTube.

Just an idea, should the Enable Keyboard Shortcuts option perhaps be relocated to the Keyboard tab?
That would certainly reduce such confusion.

A great idea.
Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
The keyboard shortcuts change Width and Shift very slowly . After releasing the keys, the change continues further. It slows down.
Width - Ctrl+F and Alt+F.
Shift - K and L.

Interesting. I had no idea that these keyboard shortcuts even existed because they do not show up in the keyboard setup page.RA3PKJ wrote:The keyboard shortcuts change Width and Shift very slowly . After releasing the keys, the change continues further. It slows down.

I can duplicate these problems here. For me, when I hold a key down, the UI does not keep up with the key repeat rate and I wind up with a random setting depending on how long I hold the key down.
Even worse, these shortcuts act to change whatever filter preset you are on, rather than automatically switching to Var 1 like dragging passband edges in the panadapter does.
So a lot to improve here: add the shortcuts to the keyboard setup, fix things so that the UI keeps up with keyboard repeat rates, and change to Var 1 when such commands are received.
Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Yes, that's right.
But the full list is much longer. Probably need a help button for shortcuts.

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Where did you find that list?
Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
These shortcuts were in PowerSDR from FlexRadio. Shortcuts are transferred to all modifications of the program (PowerSDR > PowerSDR mRX > Tethis).

Hey,
maybe I have missed a setting/switch...
It would be nice, to store NB/NB2, NR/NR2 and SNB per band
Maybe in the bandstack?

Hey.
Is there a possibility and desire to add the "ATT on Tx" checkbox for RX2.
The user activates the checkbox and selects the attenuator value he needs for each receiver during transmission.
It would be very convenient and practical.

Why would you ever need it to go so fast?Easy one..
256,000 baud rate
What does all this mean? Also AI; support freq, mode, ptt using standard FA, FB, MD, and TX, RX for PTT.

Does Thetis allow CAT control via TCP?
N1MM just added capability for radio control via TCP/IP address and IP port.
I couldn't find this in the settings menu. Is there a way to add this?
Thanks,

When operating RX2, VAC 1 and VAC 2, it might be useful to be able to 'gang' control of RX1-AF and RX2-AF. The same goes for RX1 MUT and RX2 MUT under the same circumstances. For my intent, there needn't be an added AF slider nor MUT button, but a default to RX1 controls would be nice. Or perhaps an illuminated button or something similar appropriately located could indicate the ganged circumstance. ...maybe highlighted slider control as is found with the AGC Gain for Show Zero Line.

you can hold ctrl when moving rx1/rx2 af sliders to link them btwKA5KKT wrote:When operating RX2, VAC 1 and VAC 2, it might be useful to be able to 'gang' control of RX1-AF and RX2-AF. are you guys talking about implementing a server side version of the TCI protocol from ExpertElectronics? Or some N1MM bespoke TCP/IP interface? can you link the doc/spec from N1MM?NN3RP wrote:W7GES wrote:Does Thetis allow CAT control via TCP?

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
Richie,
N1MM is not using a special specification as the TCI protocol. It’s just connecting to an Ethernet IP and designated port that listens for regular CAT commands FA; or any of the commands accepted by the rig in the Catstructs file.
In the N1MM configuration pane where you normally select a COM port there is a new choice for TCP. If you choose this you need to have an IP address and port that the rig is listening on (of course the same one Thetis is using to communicate with the rig). There is a text box you enter the IP info into: 192.168.1.30:xxxx
The commands are sent and received just like they are on a serial port. Some rigs have a set port number (I know the Kenwood TS-890 uses port 60000). I don’t have a Flex so I’m not sure if it’s a set port number or something configured in SmartSDR.
Let me know if I haven’t explained this well.

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
IMHO the ideal implementation of this would be, for each CAT instance, to add a TCP checkbox under the enable CAT checkbox and then parse the port field as a TCP port value. Gray out the other parameters, of course.
This would be a most welcome addition as recently I have discovered the wonders of Node Red for amateur radio:

Re: Thetis 2_8_11 changes/ideas/wants/wishes
MNF manual notch filter:
Would it be possible to change the cursor while hovering a MNF? Currently is hard to know if you move the MNF, the rx-filter or the passband.
Also there is no user-feedback, when pushing MNF ... the MNF is set on the beginning of the passband but there is no visual indication, that something has happened. Maybe adding a info-text (like dx cluster spots) to the screen would be helpful. i.E. "MNF 14.243,400 | 200hz"
Thanks & 73 Ernst
