Back to the TCI spots issue...

Swisslog programmer has already fixed the problem and all the additional information (including the spotter) is now shown

But I have a new problem, Swisslog sends via TCI lots of info: spotter's call sign, text comments and LOTW and eqsl membership.
Unfortunately there is not space enough in Thetis's spots to show all the new info and it gets clipped.

Could you please increase the field size?

not as simple as that even if he includes newlines, it will not wrap in Thetis. I don't class it as a bug really, the 30 char limit was from the DX cluster spec. I will have to split his long string into multi lines, calculate new text area etcetc, not a 5 min job. Could do with being in the other wants/wishes etc thread.

This rear speaker mute started with RC3, upon startup and pressing the power button the rear speaker is muted but not the front headphones. to unmute you either hit the tune, any band buttons or the mouse wheel to change the freq.

anyone else using the speaker jacks have this issue where the speaker output is muted on power on until a frequency/tune change is made? There is audio from the headphone at all times.

I use the rear speaker jacks with no issue. Just tested with and without headphones in as I wouldn't normally use headphones, and all OK.

Taking a look at the P2 ICD, we see that Byte 1400 does control the audio amplifier hardware mute line. Looking in the firmware code for the Orion MKII, this is supported and implemented. Looking further, the pin assignment in the firmware matches the schematic (not in naming convention, but hardware-wise).

So it is physically possible to mute the audio amp that feeds the speaker outputs independent of headphone audio output. Whether this is occurring in the software (as it should, the firmware should just be a pass-through) or if the firmware is doing something is more than I can say. I only checked the Orion MKII for this behavior.

Interesting, I guess mute button works to mute the rear speakers then? However I need to find out if this is an isolated problem, as the people I have spoken to so far report no mute issues. It might be related to the changes made during the work on getting Monitor af over vac to work, not sure without hooking something up to my radio, and doing some testing in the code. I will order a couple of jacks and try not to blow anything up.

Rich, I have been having Seq errors and been loading some different FW, Looks like I have solved the muting rear speaker, I just loaded V2.7 FW and no more muted speaker, FYI being able to mute the rear speaker would be a great feature when running headphones and the monitor

yes the -1 issue is fixed, and will be in rc5 over the weekend. Remember that there is no vfoA for RX2 in Thetis at the moment, so some or a combination of those options need to be used. I will make a video of it running with MSHV 2.63 x64 around the time of rc5 release. There is no audio over TCI in Thetis.

Richie--I don't think that is correct. MUT acts to mute headphone, speaker and, if so optioned, VAC output. That button works at the software level, modifying the audio data stream sent to the CODEC IC in the hardware, and to VAC (if optioned).

AFAIK, there is no Thetis user interface functionality that should allow the hardware mute line input to the TPA0202 audio amplifier IC to be controlled. But the ability is defined in the P2 interface document, and is supported in the firmware and the hardware.

I don't know what happens on those speaker sockets, I have never used them, I couldn't tell you if they mute or not when the mute button is pressed on the front end, and I have not looked at the code deep enough.

In the end It was a case of a change to X didn't cause Y so all is fine. I was scratching my head, grasping at straws by that point because I didn't think the changes I had made (including using a previously unused mix vol level function) were the cause of the issues.

In short.... *shrug* What caused it is anyone's guess at this point, especially as it vanished after a firmware update.

Next level is to use TCI AUDIO via TCI connection TX/RX, (not with VAC or audio Cables)
And Using "Use Selected Constant TX Audio Frequency" (for pure audio output)
For this need, reaction in you software TX/RX for fast frequencies changes (TX/RX fast reaction) to have pure audio output via TCI audio connection.

I'm running two Radio Shack Minimus 7, aluminum case speakers. Sound wonderful.
Connected to the back of my 200D. One right to the i/8" jack, the other to the DB25 connector.
Thetis version 21k9 (rc4b)
Windows 7 Ultimate, I7 CPU.
No problems here. Mute silence the speakers, not VAC1, like it's supposed to I guess.

For two instance:
To protect TX if using two instance, you need to use tx_enable: flag
example:
MSHV_0 is on TX1
MSHV_1 is on TX2
if MSHV_0 TXing you soft need to send signal to MSHV_1 <- tx_enable:1,false;
if MSHV_1 TXing you soft need to send signal to MSHV_0 <- tx_enable:0,false;
if tx_enable:id,false; MSHV_id no possible to start PTT and emitting

Small secret, how to start ESDR3 and see all comunication without hardware.
Goto folder C:\Program Files\ExpertElectronics\ExpertSDR3 and see SdrApplication.exe
To start, make shortcut to desktop with command (target) = "C:\Program Files\ExpertElectronics\ExpertSDR3\SdrApplication.exe" --serial=EED05101000001
And ESDR3 will start without hardware.
