7000 MKIII FPGA Question

What is the benefits of moving from Cyclone IV to a Cyclone V FPGA? Is the Cyclone V a newer device with a later EOL date?

Exactly. The benefit can best be summed up by saying "Apache can get them!" The older Cyclone IV FPGAs have been unobtainium for some time now.
