Comparative Composite Noise Measurements - NC0B

Post by w9ac »

Rob Sherwood, NC0B gave me permission to post his composite transmit noise table. The table compares composite transmit noise across 27 different transceivers. The result is derived from his measurements as well as input from S53WW and N0QO. Transceivers ranked near the top are good transmit neighbors, those toward the bottom...not so much.

Is it known whether PureSignal was used when the 7000 was tested?

It won't affect the measured test result because composite noise = phase noise (frequency variation) + amplitude noise.

Paul,

You jogged my memory, Abhi had posted that same chart 3 years ago here:

The link at the top of Abhi's post also makes for interesting reading.

Mark,

If I was a Flex 6400 or 6600 owner, I would want to know why there's significantly degraded composite noise performance when compared to the aged 6700.
