Now that the Taurus is available, I am considering purchasing one for my G2V2. My interface plan is as Follows:
My plan is to use a USB connection to communicate with the amplifier and 4 open collector outputs for band information to the amp. A 5th open collector will provide a power up signal to the amplifier when the G2V2 radio is on. I'd run a PTT line from the G2V2, through my Steppir controller to the PTT amp input and I think that should do it. I would use the PA settings on Thetis to limit the drive power to the required level to obtain max legal power output.
Does anyone know if this is a viable approach or if there is an easier or better approach?
Comments welcome as I cannot find any posts regarding this interface.

You are overcomplicating the band data interface. Simply provision a USB to RS232 adapter on your PC (or add a conventional RS232 card, if possible), set the amp for Kenwood RS232 CAT signaling. And provision a CAT port in Thetis.
The CAT port on the Taurus is essentially the same as on the older SPE amplifiers. There is a comprehensive topic here that covers SPE to Thetis CAT interfacing: viewtopic.php?t=2575
