Anan G2 blacl face Overpowered

Post by Svante »

Hello. Today my Anan G2 went up to abpout 150 watt when working on Drivelevel 30 Before it happens It was output 20 watt. Also my external wattmeter jump up to about 130 watt.
Someone know what can be the problem. I was just starting up for testing some Audio which of course also didnt sound well. I am working against a dummy load

1. Did you power calibrate all bands when you got the radio or recently.. Do again if you reset your database
2 Check all DC 12 volt power connections including fuse and fuseholder. They must be tight and clean.
3 Measure voltage in power supply wire during transmit at power supply end and at radio power connector for any difference more than a volt or so .
Maybe more ideas from others shortly.

Hello Thank you. Yes I have for about 9 months ago set the power for my Amplifire . But today I tried to find How to do that. I think I did see a youtube video but cannot find it again. Any clue how to set it up? I know where I do it but forgotten how. Age you know hi.
About Power I looked att the numbers on the screen down left and it says 13,8 but that was not transmitting. I will check again.

Hello again. Ok I have now set up the pa settings again. And that make a lot difference to the positive side. I must admit that I have not for a long time look at pa settings due to I have not my antenna up since beginning of May. So Maybe it has of some reason changed to another menu(I have 5 different settings)
I do not emember wich of the I had in May. But ok now I have set new settings on that Menu name which was on at this moment and changed it to the safe side. Have ofcourse changed som settings in my computer since may but not on the Pa settings Who decide to messup this morning. Ok thats computer world
to an Old man

Sounds like you are on the correct track. Simplest is to use a reasonably accurate watt meter on you Anan transmitter out into a dummy load rared mire than 109 watts. May need ti keep transmisions short to not overheat the dummy load and transmitter power will change a few watts as it heats up. DO all bands. 6 meters often draws more current than lower bands. Maybe calibrate maximum for a bit under 100 watts on all bands.
Notice that calbrate numbers are reverse logic. Higher number gives lower power out . The power slider on the Anan main screen is not going to give power the number shows. It does not always equal 10 watts . 50 may be 60 watts or 40. There is a way to do additional calbration to make the piwer slider more accurate but not worth the effort usually. Keep external wattmeter inline and take wattmeter on Anan screen as close but may be way off with reflected power.
Caution. I assume you are using a recent version of Thetis. I got caught thinking I could not tun up my power to full. Use left click only to adjust power normally. If you hold right click and drag the red line on the power slider it can set the maximum power less than 100 watts. Good to limit drive for an external Power amp possibly. Many options and settings to get tripped up on. Just use what you need and watch out for the gotchas.

Thank you I have my RF2K-s behind my Anan and it has an inbuild powermeter so I bypass amp and just use the powermeter and I am on the low side. Level 30 on Anan shows about 20 in RF2K-s Normally I am from 25 in Anan to about 35to 38 on the higher frequensy. 80m to 10 with my 85m loop antenna feed with 450 Ohm Balanced line FROM 4:1 balun 1 meter behind RF2K-s
I think the pc did something when I changed my screen from 150% to 130% and told me I must restart and did that whitout shut down Thetis first. Of course my mistake but it is the only thing I did that morning. Anyway all good now.
Thanks for pointing me in right direction.
Have a nice weekend

I use the RF2KS also. Also 450 ohm line on similiar antennas here. The power meter in it factory calibrated works fine. Bypassed or not. Just do not drive it with too much exicter power.
