Slow to unkey

Hi,

When using piHPSDR on my Anan G2 ultra doing SSB, I notice that releasing the PTT is slow. What I mean by this is I'm having a conversation with someone, I key down and say what I'm going to say, then release the mic key. It takes much too long for the radio to switch back to RX. I actually miss the beginning of the response from the person I am talking with. I do not have this issue with Thetis.

Is there a setting somewhere for this?

I just tested this with my Ultra. Using the rear TRS connector for my microphone and a separate PTT switch, I don't notice any delay going from transmit to receive when I release the PTT button.
Which microphone are you using? Are you using the front panel microphone connection? It could be the PTT switch in your microphone sticking. I looked through the manual and the transmit settings and I don't find any kind of delay setting for PTT.

Interesting, I'm using an Inrad M629 mic on their stand connected to the rear TLR and the PTT to the rear mic jack. It's the same mic whether I using piHPSDR or Thetis.

Perhaps it is un keying right away, but the audio is taking a moment to come back. I'm constantly missing the first works coming back. I haven't tried the rear PTT in yet, it looks like its a different path than the PTT signal on the mic jacks.

I use a stereo splitter cable with female RCA connectors on each side of the split. That way I have PTT in for my handheld PTT switch and the other for PTT output to Key an amplifier.
Here's the wiring diagram from the manual showing how wire the stereo plug if you are only interested in using one or the other.

I tried the 1/8 mic jack and now also the RCA PTT in, and MOX switch, all behave the same. Listening more closely, it does un-key fast enough, what I'm getting is what sounds like a static crash each time I release the PTT. Its long enough that I miss the beginning of someone talking.

Again, this does not happen with Thetis, same mic connections.

Saying RCA in isn't quite complete, I also have a pigtail that takes the 1/8 jack and splits it to two RCA, PTT out I have been using with my amp. I tried the other for PTT in, same issue.

It may be how things are wired. Note also that all PTT inputs on all connectors are tied together internally, there is no difference between inputs.

A wiring diagram showing each connector and each pin and what signal goes where that would help determine if improper wiring is the issue. It doesn't have to be fancy, just scratch it out on a piece of paper and post a pic of it.

We can reduce it to the lowest common denominator, No PTT wire attached, XLR plugged into mic, TLR plugged in G2, MOX button to key, does not matter if it is the hardware MOX on the panel or the software MOX on piHPSDR. TLR tip, ring, and barrel wired per the manual.

Any chance of:

1 Squelch is on. Turn it off if so.

2 Receive AGC not on fast enough setting to recover quickly on ptt release ? Both AGC type Fast, slow, normal and agc level set by slider and shown as a horizontal line on the spectrum display. If set to auto agc try setting to normal or fast as a test.
