PGA XL Connect for Anan 200D

Post by qst »

I have a Flexradio PGXL PA. I want to connect it to an Anan 200D. The PGXL has an RS232 port. I have a 4xRS232 card in my PC. These are ports 1-4. If I connect the Anan to the PGXL with an RS232 cable, will I be able to control the amplifier? The Thetis has 4 CAT ports. Which port should Thetis select to control the amplifier? I have a similar problem with the controller for a balanced antenna tuner. It also has an RS232 input, and I can connect the next port from the card to the PC. Should I select the physical port number from the RS232 card in CAT 2? And then there's the logging program, which also needs a CAT port to switch between radios. Please help me with this.

You'll be able to have Thetis tell the PGXL what frequency is in use, that is all.

You want to use Kenwood protocol. You may need to enable the Kenwood AI option in Thetis.

A quick look a the PGXL instructions ;) on page 32 should answer most questions. Flex did a terrible job by not documenting the pinout of the PGXL 9-pin CAT connectors. A little Googling sorted that out. It appears you can use a straight-through serial cable between the PGXL and the PC. Only pins 2, 3 and 5 are required.

It doesn't matter. They are all functionally the same.

Yes, and for every other Thetis CAT port that is using a physical COM port on the PC.

Again, you will want to set the tuner up as if it is connected to a Kenwood.

Which logging program? You probably won't need a serial connection for it, not even a virtual serial connection.

I deleted your other post about PTT for the PGXL. It was in the logging forum, it should have been here.

The answer is the PTT out on all ANANs will be fine with the PTT input on the PGXL.
