ANAN 200D 6m current?

Post by DH1KLM »

How many amps does the ANAN 100D/200D draw at 100W on 6 m?

Mine draws 20A at 20W. I don't dare go up to 100W. PA BIAS already calibrated, PA profile setup already done, except for 6m.

It can draw up to 25A.

20A at 20W seems a bit much!

One of the problems with the 100/200 series was melted fuse holders and melted power connectors causing excessive resistance. You might check the condition of your power cable.

It's also possible that the 6M LPF has become damaged somehow.

Something wrong for sure, look at the Ant/Filters BPF1/LPF setup tab and make sure the correct LPF is setup and selected for 6m.

Wow, 25 amps sounds like a lot. The other bands are somewhere between 12 and 18 amps. Cables, power connectors, and fuse holders are all fine.

I initially suspected the 6m LPF as well. I checked with a thermal camera to see if anything was overheating, but it wasn't.

I dared to try calibrating for 6m, but I had to go down to 38.8, which resulted in an immediate increase in both power and amperage. At a certain point, the power jumped upwards, which apparently led to self-oscillation. The only solution was to switch off the power supply.

The transistors weren't damaged, and there's still power available on the other bands.

According to Thetis, the correct LPF is switched. This is also confirmed by the thermal imaging camera, because the corresponding toroids become slightly warm at 20W.

200D normally draws noticeably more current on 6M .at 100w cw or FM.Sounds like yours may be in trouble. Are you testing with a dummy load? Some loads are poorer matc at 6M than lower bands as well.
