8000DLE serial number label

Post by W2PA »

Is anyone else having the problem of the serial number label peeling off its position on the rear underside cabinet? I imagine I'm not the only one. What is the suggested permanent fix?

By the way whose idea was it to use a paper label for the serial number on a $4k piece of equipment? (I think I'm doing fairly well with this rig since this is my only complaint after 4 months. ;-) )

;)

Mine wasn't even on the 8000DLE when I unpacked it - it had already fallen off !!!

I have taken a picture of it and saved it to my PC

I put the paper version with the rest of the paperwork that accompanied the $4000 radio (I jest, there was no paperwork with it - it's all on-line apparently)

Same here. Abhi has already stated in another topic that the glue was not up to the task and that they will be changing it in a future production run.

I think its pretty much a universal problem, at least on the early production units. I stuck it to some waxed paper and put it in the box.

So, the question remains: what to do about it? What's the glue Apache started using? Or did they do it right and make a more permanent marking?

Absent any official recommendation, I suppose I'll wing it. But I'd think the correct way would be to use a stronger glue and then coat it with clear-coat (or something) that will keep the markings from degrading.

Decided to look under my new 8000 to see if it had a SN label;
This one was firmly glued.
Does anyone know what production SN ranges have been built?
My unit is #00108.

My serial number tag just lays on the shelf below the radio :D

It's a lower serial number than yours, so no help there.

Perhaps we can estimate how many total ANAN owners there are. There are not quite 1700 members of the Yahoo Group. Figure only two thirds of them actually have radios. And there are 530 members here, but most of those are also members of the Yahoo Group.

Conservatively, let's just guess that there are twice as many ANAN owners as there probably are ANAN-radio-owning members of they Yahoo Group. So that's maybe 2400 ANAN radios in total circulation. Not a huge number. It's anyone's guess how many of those are 8000's. I suspect it's less than 500, maybe a lot less.
