Can not see entire Thetis screen on my Notebook

Post by AndrewK »

Missing just a line or two at the bottom of the Thetis 2.9 screen no matter how I size it.
Screen shot attached.

What happens if you put the cursor on the title bar at the top and double-click?

Edit: I tried to duplicate this situation on my notebook and have had no success. I've tried different combinations of both the Thetis and notebook resolutions.

Have you changed the screen resolution or scaling?
What is the standard resolution of your notebook display?

I have exactly the same issue. However I am a visually impaired person and I have the scaling factor in Windows 11 increased so that I can see the screen more clearly with larger print and graphics. If I reset the scaling backi to 100 per cent all is fine. Check the screen scaling on your laptop as suggested in a previous thread.

Thank you for all of the replies, changing the scaling factor to 105 did the trick, it is a 14" 1920 x 1080 resolution screen.

Cheers

Thanks very much for taking a look at this Richie and for the video. . I have my scale factor set at 150 per cent and I have the cropping issue as stated above. To be honest, I am used to having to put up with a bit of inconvenience being visually impaired. PCs are never 100 per cent great for us but we just do the best we can in the situation. It would be great for those in my position if it were possible to do something about this but I'm not expecting miracles of course. Maybe it can be overcome if the request for moveable control panels is implemented at some point in the future. Just moving things away from the very bottom edge of the window would solve the issue when the panels can can be moved that is..

Terry--have you considered a larger, higher resolution monitor? You can make things very large on, say, a 32 inch, 4K resolution monitor.

Hello WU2O and thanks very much for your suggestion. I already have a 27 inch monitor and it is about the biggest I can conveniently fit on my desk at the moment. Screen resolution is 1920 by 1080 which is the native resolution for the monitor. Maybe I'll get a bigger monitor some day when I can get more space and I can afford it.

More Info
As the notebook is only a back up for Thetis I reset the scaling factor back to 100 and confirmed the issue came back.
Today I was back in the settings and noticed that 150 (scaling) was now being recommended, I set it to that but it was no different.
So again went back to 100 and this time all good.
Not sure what to make out of all this.

In my experience with scaling factors, Windows tends to prefer its standard settings of 100, 125, 150, 175 etc. If you use a scaling factor other than one of these values strange things can happen! Often things happen after restarting Windows or after signing out and then back in again. Windows sometimes asks you to sign out because of this before applying the new settings. Anyway, I'd just leave it set to 100 per cent and forget about it. Unfortunately with my vision problems I can't do that.
