G2 (no Screen) PTT IN/OUT Question

On the rear of the G2 there is a 3.5mm female jack port for PTT IN/OUT.

Is that port usable as PTT IN and PTT OUT?

I have a floor foot switch that I use to key my Microphone.

Could I build a "Y" cable so that the PTT foot switch is attached AND the PTT cable to my Amplifier is also attached to the same "Y" cable?

If not... then how best to connect a foot switch and the PTT Amplifier cable?

In my present rig (FTDX101MP) I have a Heil Audio XLR and PTT Footswitch cable that joins at the Yaesu Microphone jack (multi Pin connector).

Thanks for that pointer W-u-2-O,
So as I understand it the ground and tip are PTT IN for the foot switch....
and
ground and center ring are PTT OUT for the keying the linear amplifier PTT
