This problem could easily be fixed with a code change to Thetis.
I suggest that the transmit audio buffer should be cleared just before a transmission when the PTT is activated. That way any sounds collected my the mic would be purged. I fought this problem and my only solution was to use ...

My radio does the exact same thing. Often when one of those frequency sweeps happen the rumbling will either start or stop. I just assumed it was an issue in the algorithm or some sort of artifact.

I have been using a SUN and an Anan for about 6 months and I find the SUN to be a great radio is every aspect except one. The Anan has a slight edge in the noise reduction area when signals are approaching the noise level. However there are many many areas that the SUN does way better than Thetis ...

I have the GEN III Orion board in my brand new 7000DLE. I shorted the antenna connection when I went spur hunting. Some spurs are narrow and some are quite wide. I did a quick scan and found the following;
