Can I “toggle” between Thetis and DAW processing in same Data Base

Post by JJ4SDR »

Below, the different audio processing scenarios that I am employing when processing my audio (VAC1 always enabled):
1). Thetis only (without Voicemeeter)
2). DAW only (in conjunction with Voicemeeter)
3). Thetis and DAW both in a “hybrid” configuration (ditto above at #2)

Now, I am building different TX profiles (for a couple of different mics ) for different types of operating (ESSB of varying TX bandwidths, rag-chew, chasing DX) with the idea of having a “library” of TX profiles.

Q1/Q2:
Is there a way to realize the above goal by using only 1 and the same Data Base? By this I mean, can I switch between different TX profiles and stay in 1 Data Base only without having to use Voicemeeter when audio processing inside Thetis only is desired?
Q3:
Is the only way to achieve the above by having Voicemeeter turned on even if I use audio processing tools inside Thetis only?
Q4:
Currently, I need to import Data Base “X” for scenarios 2) & 3) and Data Base “Y” for scenario 1), but I don’t want to keep doing this and “toggle” between two different Data Bases.

You are way overcomplicating this issue. There is no reason to be switching between databases.

There is no penalty for leaving Voicemeeter inline at all times. Then use Voicemeeter to switch between straight mic audio into Thetis and audio processed via the DAW. To do this just turn the patch inserts on or off as required. Alternately you can simply use the bypass features of whatever DAW you are using.

However, if you are determined to occasionally eliminate Voicemeeter, this can be done as part of your transmit profile. If you go to Setup > Transmit, you will see there is an option to "Highlight TX Profile Save Items". If you enable that, then look at Setup > Audio > VAC1, you will see that the input and output settings are saved as part of the transmit profile. So you could have one profile that selects your ASIO interface directly, and another that selects Voicemeeter.

Yes, I do have a proclivity to render the simple overly complex ;)

Thanks Scott!

Scott:
I have no such option on the Transmit tab. See screen-shot below. Perhaps that is something that running a patch would get me (I will need to learn how to do that first)? Thetis 2.8.11 (not sure which "flavor" ) under P1.

Which version of Thetis? This feature was recently added as noted in the release notes. 21g is the latest and has a fair amount of bug fixes.
