Hi Alan,
it's all about dynamic range. 80m bandnoise usually is about -120dB fullscale, input noise of the Anan's somewhere at -150dB FS.
You have to make sure that your audio chain and the used spectrum app supports HDR. 16bit resolution is definitly not enought (only 96dB), you need at least 24 ...

Hi Robert,
the SMA XVTR output is for max. 0.5W only.
If you need more you have to use the internal PA on one of the three ANT x BNC's.
Use the setting below for PA activation:

Just calibrate your panadapter!
The value is roughly the attenuation of your coupler, maybe you have to adjust a few dB.
Scale the tx-display and make sure DUP is enabled.

-20dBm(S9+53) would be still better since at least15bits of the 16bit ADC are used.

Your values reflect exactly the IARU recommandations for S-meters:
HF: S9 = 50µV = -73dBm
VHF: S9= 5µV = -93dBm
So everthing is perfectly fine.

An OC is simply a switch towards ground if activated.
There is no intrinsic pull up.
If you want to switch inductive loads (Relay coil) it is mandantory to use the COM pin for freewheeling.

Re: Turn off AGC altogether?
Dear friends,
Is it possible to turn off AGC altogether in Thetis? I do EME and it is useful to measure signal levels at audio where AGC just gets in the way. Note: I'm not asking about turning off "auto AGC gain mode" (which is so redundant.)
Thanks,
W9IP
You want to set the AGC mode to "Fixd"

If you need really small signal levels (0dBm) you may use XVTR output and disable the internal PA.

The PA calibration is per radio model. You can have both radios (must be different models) in one database.
The more elegant way is to have distinct databases for each radio (can be same models, must have distinct fixed IP's) and use -datapath option in command line.
This way you can even use them ...
